At Mackenzie’s Sweet Creations, every order is made with intention. Whether you are ordering custom cookies, cupcakes, a smash cake, or a celebration cake, the goal is to create something that feels personal, beautiful, and delicious for your special occasion.
Because each order is custom-made, the process starts before baking day. From design inspiration to flavor choices, pickup details, and final touches, every step helps make sure your order is prepared as smoothly as possible.
How the Ordering Process Works
To get started, please fill out the order inquiry form with as much detail as possible. Helpful information includes:
- Event date
- Pickup or delivery preference
- Number of servings needed
- Product type: cookies, cupcakes, cake, or smash cake
- Flavor preferences
- Color palette
- Theme or design inspiration
- Inspiration photos, if you have them
Inspiration photos are always welcome, but please note that they are used as inspiration only. I do not directly copy another baker’s exact design. Your order will be created in my own style while staying close to the overall theme, colors, and feeling you are looking for.
How Far in Advance to Order
Custom orders require planning, ingredient shopping, baking, decorating, and proper packaging.
Recommended order timeline:
- Custom Cookies:
Please order at least 2 weeks in advance. - Cupcakes:
Please order at least 1 week in advance. - Custom Cakes:
Please order at least 2 weeks in advance. - Larger or more detailed orders:
Please order 3–4 weeks in advance when possible.
Rush orders may be accepted depending on availability, but they are not guaranteed and may include a rush fee.
Deposit & Payment Process
A deposit is required to secure your order date.
Your order is not officially booked until the deposit has been paid. Because custom orders require planning and preparation, dates cannot be held without payment.
Deposit Policy
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order date.
The remaining balance is due before pickup or delivery. Orders must be paid in full before they are released.
For smaller orders, full payment may be required at the time of booking.
Design Process
Once your date is reserved, we will finalize the details of your order. This may include:
Cake size or quantity
Flavor selection
Frosting flavor
Filling choice, if applicable
Color palette
Theme
Toppings or decorations
Writing or personalization
Pickup or delivery time
Simple design adjustments can usually be made before the final confirmation date. Major changes may affect the final price and may not be available once supplies have been purchased or decorating has started.
I will always do my best to capture the overall look and feel of your inspiration, but every handmade item will have slight variations. That is part of what makes custom desserts unique.
Pickup & Delivery Process
Pickup
Pickup details will be confirmed before your order date. Please arrive at your scheduled pickup time so your order can be transferred safely.
Once your order is picked up, it becomes the customer’s responsibility. Cakes and cupcakes should be transported on a flat surface, preferably the floor of the vehicle, and kept cool. Please avoid direct sunlight, hot cars, laps, seats, and uneven surfaces.
Delivery
Delivery may be available depending on location, schedule, and order size. Delivery fees are based on distance and availability.
If delivery is selected, someone must be available to receive the order at the scheduled time. Once the order has been delivered and accepted, Mackenzie’s Sweet Creations is no longer responsible for damage caused by handling, storage, weather, pets, children, or transportation after delivery.
Cottage Food Notice
Mackenzie’s Sweet Creations operates as a Florida cottage food business. Items are made in a home kitchen and are not inspected by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
All products are made with cottage-food-compliant ingredients and are intended to be stored in a cool, dry place unless otherwise noted.
